Seventh Aliyah



4:1
God spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
Vayedaber Adonay el-Moshe ve’el-Aharon lemor.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר.

4:2
Take a [special] census of the descendants of Kehoth among the Levites. [Take it] by families, following the paternal line.
Naso et-rosh bney Kehat mitoch bney Levi lemishpechotam leveyt avotam.
נָשֹׂא, אֶת-רֹאשׁ בְּנֵי קְהָת, מִתּוֹךְ, בְּנֵי לֵוִי–לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם, לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם.

4:3
[It shall include] those from 30 to 50 years old, all who enter service to work in the Communion Tent.
Miben shloshim shanah vamalah ve’ad ben-chamishim shanah kol-ba latsava la’asot melachah be’Ohel Mo’ed.
מִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה, וְעַד בֶּן-חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה–כָּל-בָּא, לַצָּבָא, לַעֲשׂוֹת מְלָאכָה, בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

4:4
The following is the service of Kehoth’s descendants in the Communion Tent. It is the holy of holies.
Zot avodat beney-Kehat be’Ohel Mo’ed kodesh hakodashim.
זֹאת עֲבֹדַת בְּנֵי-קְהָת, בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד–קֹדֶשׁ, הַקֳּדָשִׁים.

4:5
When the camp is about to travel, Aaron and his sons shall come and take down the partition drape, using it to cover the Ark of Testimony.
Uva Aharon uvanav binsoa hamachaneh vehoridu et parochet hamasach vechisu-vah et Aron ha’Edut.
וּבָא אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו, בִּנְסֹעַ הַמַּחֲנֶה, וְהוֹרִדוּ, אֵת פָּרֹכֶת הַמָּסָךְ; וְכִסּוּ-בָהּ–אֵת, אֲרֹן הָעֵדֻת.

4:6
They shall then place a cover of blue-processed skins over it, and on top of that, a cloth of pure sky blue wool. They shall then put its carrying poles in place.
Venatnu alav kesuy or tachash ufarsu veged-klil tchelet milmalah vesamu badav.
וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו, כְּסוּי עוֹר תַּחַשׁ, וּפָרְשׂוּ בֶגֶד-כְּלִיל תְּכֵלֶת, מִלְמָעְלָה; וְשָׂמוּ, בַּדָּיו.

4:7
They shall spread a sky blue cloth over the inner table. Then they shall set in place on it the bread forms, incense bowls, half tubes, and covering side frames, so that the bread can remain [on the table] constantly.
Ve’al shulchan hapanim yifresu beged tchelet venatnu alav et-hake’arot ve’et-hakapot ve’et-hamenaki’ot ve’et ksot hanasech velechem hatamid alav yihyeh.
וְעַל שֻׁלְחַן הַפָּנִים, יִפְרְשׂוּ בֶּגֶד תְּכֵלֶת, וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו אֶת-הַקְּעָרֹת וְאֶת-הַכַּפֹּת וְאֶת-הַמְּנַקִּיֹּת, וְאֵת קְשׂוֹת הַנָּסֶךְ; וְלֶחֶם הַתָּמִיד, עָלָיו יִהְיֶה.

4:8
Over it all, they shall place a crimson wool cloth, and cover it with a case of blue-processed skins. They shall then put its carrying poles in place.
Ufarsu aleyhem beged tola’at shani vechisu oto bemichseh or tachash vesamu et-badav.
וּפָרְשׂוּ עֲלֵיהֶם, בֶּגֶד תּוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי, וְכִסּוּ אֹתוֹ, בְּמִכְסֵה עוֹר תָּחַשׁ; וְשָׂמוּ, אֶת-בַּדָּיו.

4:9
They shall take a cloth of sky blue wool, and cover the menorah lamp along with its oil cups, wick tongs, ash scoops and the oil containers used for it.
Velakchu beged techelet vechisu et-menorat hama’or ve’et-neroteyha ve’et-malkacheyha ve’et-machtoteyha ve’et kol-kley shamnah asher yeshartu-lah bahem.
וְלָקְחוּ בֶּגֶד תְּכֵלֶת, וְכִסּוּ אֶת-מְנֹרַת הַמָּאוֹר וְאֶת-נֵרֹתֶיהָ, וְאֶת-מַלְקָחֶיהָ, וְאֶת-מַחְתֹּתֶיהָ; וְאֵת כָּל-כְּלֵי שַׁמְנָהּ, אֲשֶׁר יְשָׁרְתוּ-לָהּ בָּהֶם.

4:10
[The menorah] and all its utensils shall be placed in a case of blue-processed skins, and placed on a carrying frame.
Venatnu otah ve’et-kol-keleyha el-michseh or tachash venatnu al-hamot.
וְנָתְנוּ אֹתָהּ וְאֶת-כָּל-כֵּלֶיהָ, אֶל-מִכְסֵה עוֹר תָּחַשׁ; וְנָתְנוּ, עַל-הַמּוֹט.

4:11
They shall spread a sky blue wool cloth on the golden altar, and then cover it with a case of blue-processed skins. They shall then set its carrying poles in place.
Ve’al mizbach hazahav yifresu beged tchelet vechisu oto bemichseh or tachash vesamu et-badav.
וְעַל מִזְבַּח הַזָּהָב, יִפְרְשׂוּ בֶּגֶד תְּכֵלֶת, וְכִסּוּ אֹתוֹ, בְּמִכְסֵה עוֹר תָּחַשׁ; וְשָׂמוּ, אֶת-בַּדָּיו.

4:12
They shall take all the sanctuary’s service utensils, and place them on a sky blue wool cloth. They shall then be covered with a case of blue-processed skins, and placed on a carrying frame.
Velakchu et-kol-kley hasharet asher yeshartu-vam bakodesh venatnu el-beged tchelet vechisu otam bemichseh or tachash venatnu al-hamot.
וְלָקְחוּ אֶת-כָּל-כְּלֵי הַשָּׁרֵת אֲשֶׁר יְשָׁרְתוּ-בָם בַּקֹּדֶשׁ, וְנָתְנוּ אֶל-בֶּגֶד תְּכֵלֶת, וְכִסּוּ אוֹתָם, בְּמִכְסֵה עוֹר תָּחַשׁ; וְנָתְנוּ, עַל-הַמּוֹט.

4:13
They shall remove all the ashes from the [sacrificial] altar, and place a dark red cloth over it.
Vedishnu et-hamizbe’ach ufarsu alav beged argaman.
וְדִשְּׁנוּ, אֶת-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ; וּפָרְשׂוּ עָלָיו, בֶּגֶד אַרְגָּמָן.

4:14
They shall place on it all the utensils that are used for its service, such as the fire pans, flesh pokers, scoops, and sacrificial basins- all the altar’s utensils. They shall then cover it [all] with a case of blue-processed skins, and set its carrying poles in place.
Venatnu alav et-kol-kelav asher yeshartu alav bahem et-hamachtot et-hamizlagot ve’et-haya’im ve’et-hamizrakot kol kley hamizbe’ach ufarsu alav kesuy or tachash vesamu vadav.
וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו אֶת-כָּל-כֵּלָיו אֲשֶׁר יְשָׁרְתוּ עָלָיו בָּהֶם, אֶת-הַמַּחְתֹּת אֶת-הַמִּזְלָגֹת וְאֶת-הַיָּעִים וְאֶת-הַמִּזְרָקֹת–כֹּל, כְּלֵי הַמִּזְבֵּחַ; וּפָרְשׂוּ עָלָיו, כְּסוּי עוֹר תַּחַשׁ–וְשָׂמוּ בַדָּיו.

4:15
Aaron and his sons shall thus finish covering the sacred [furniture] and all the sanctuary utensils, so that the camp can begin its journey. [Only after the priests are finished] shall the Kehothites come to carry [these items], so that they not die when they touch the sacred objects. The above is what the Kehothites must carry for the Communion Tent.
Vechilah Aharon-uvanav lechasot et-hakodesh ve’et-kol-keley hakodesh binsoa hamachaneh ve’acharey-chen yavo’u veney-Kehat laset velo-yig’u el-hakodesh vametu eleh masa vney-Kehat be’Ohel Mo’ed.
וְכִלָּה אַהֲרֹן-וּבָנָיו לְכַסֹּת אֶת-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶת-כָּל-כְּלֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ, בִּנְסֹעַ הַמַּחֲנֶה, וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן יָבֹאוּ בְנֵי-קְהָת לָשֵׂאת, וְלֹא-יִגְּעוּ אֶל-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וָמֵתוּ; אֵלֶּה מַשָּׂא בְנֵי-קְהָת, בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

4:16
[This shall be] under the direction of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, [along with] the illuminating oil, the perfume incense, the meal offerings for the daily sacrifice, and the anointing oil. [He shall also be in] charge of the entire Tabernacle, and all its sacred furniture and utensils.
Ufekudat El’azar ben-Aharon hakohen shemen hama’or uktoret hasamim uminchat hatamid veshemen hamishchah pekudat kol-haMishkan vechol-asher-bo bekodesh uvechelav.
וּפְקֻדַּת אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן-אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן, שֶׁמֶן הַמָּאוֹר וּקְטֹרֶת הַסַּמִּים, וּמִנְחַת הַתָּמִיד, וְשֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה: פְּקֻדַּת, כָּל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ, בְּקֹדֶשׁ, וּבְכֵלָיו.
