19:1
God spoke to Moses and Aaron, telling them that
Vayedaber Adonay el-Moshe ve’el-Aharon lemor.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר.

19:2
the following is declared to be the Torah’s decree as commanded by God: Speak to the Israelites and have them bring you a completely red cow, which has no blemish, and which has never had a yoke on it.
Zot chukat hatorah asher-tsivah Adonay lemor daber el-beney Yisra’el veyikchu eleycha farah adumah tmimah asher eyn-bah mum asher lo-alah aleyha ol.
זֹאת חֻקַּת הַתּוֹרָה, אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה לֵאמֹר: דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְיִקְחוּ אֵלֶיךָ פָרָה אֲדֻמָּה תְּמִימָה אֲשֶׁר אֵין-בָּהּ מוּם, אֲשֶׁר לֹא-עָלָה עָלֶיהָ, עֹל.

19:3
Give it to Eleazar the priest, and he shall have it brought outside the camp. It shall then be slaughtered in his presence.
Unetatem otah el-El’azar hakohen vehotsi otah el-michuts lamachaneh veshachat otah lefanav.
וּנְתַתֶּם אֹתָהּ, אֶל-אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן; וְהוֹצִיא אֹתָהּ אֶל-מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה, וְשָׁחַט אֹתָהּ לְפָנָיו.

19:4
Eleazar the priest shall take the blood with his finger and sprinkle it toward the Communion Tent seven times.
Velakach El’azar hakohen midamah be’etsba’o vehizah el-nochach peney ohel-mo’ed midamah sheva pe’amim.
וְלָקַח אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן, מִדָּמָהּ–בְּאֶצְבָּעוֹ; וְהִזָּה אֶל-נֹכַח פְּנֵי אֹהֶל-מוֹעֵד, מִדָּמָהּ–שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים.

19:5
The cow shall then be burned in [Eleazar’s] presence. Its skin, flesh, blood and entrails must be burned.
Vesaraf et-haparah le’eynav et-orah ve’et-bsarah ve’et-damah al-pirshah yisrof.
וְשָׂרַף אֶת-הַפָּרָה, לְעֵינָיו: אֶת-עֹרָהּ וְאֶת-בְּשָׂרָהּ וְאֶת-דָּמָהּ, עַל-פִּרְשָׁהּ יִשְׂרֹף.

19:6
The priest shall take a piece of cedar wood, some hyssop, and some crimson [wool], and throw it into the burning cow.
Velakach hakohen ets erez ve’ezov ushni tola’at vehishlich el-toch srefat haparah.
וְלָקַח הַכֹּהֵן, עֵץ אֶרֶז וְאֵזוֹב–וּשְׁנִי תוֹלָעַת; וְהִשְׁלִיךְ, אֶל-תּוֹךְ שְׂרֵפַת הַפָּרָה.

19:7
The priest must then immerse his vestments and his body in a mikvah, and remain unclean until evening, after which he may come into the camp.
Vechibes begadav hakohen verachats bsaro bamayim ve’achar yavo el-hamachaneh vetame hakohen ad-ha’arev.
וְכִבֶּס בְּגָדָיו הַכֹּהֵן, וְרָחַץ בְּשָׂרוֹ בַּמַּיִם, וְאַחַר, יָבֹא אֶל-הַמַּחֲנֶה; וְטָמֵא הַכֹּהֵן, עַד-הָעָרֶב.

19:8
The one who burns [the cow] must also immerse his clothing and body in a mikvah, and then remain unclean until evening.
Vehasoref otah yechabes bgadav bamayim verachats bsaro bamayim vetame ad-ha’arev.
וְהַשֹּׂרֵף אֹתָהּ–יְכַבֵּס בְּגָדָיו בַּמַּיִם, וְרָחַץ בְּשָׂרוֹ בַּמָּיִם; וְטָמֵא, עַד-הָעָרֶב.

19:9
A ritually clean person shall gather up the cow’s ashes, and place them outside the camp in a clean place. They shall be a keepsake for the Israelite community to be used for the sprinkling water, as a means of purification.
Ve’asaf ish tahor et efer haparah vehiniach michuts lamachaneh bemakom tahor vehayetah la’adat bney-Yisra’el lemishmeret lemey nidah chatat hi.
וְאָסַף אִישׁ טָהוֹר, אֵת אֵפֶר הַפָּרָה, וְהִנִּיחַ מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה, בְּמָקוֹם טָהוֹר; וְהָיְתָה לַעֲדַת בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמִשְׁמֶרֶת, לְמֵי נִדָּה–חַטָּאת הִוא.

19:10
The one who gathers up the cow’s ashes must immerse [his body and] his clothing, and remain unclean until evening. [All] this shall be an eternal law for the Israelites and for any proselyte who joins them:
Vechibes ha’osef et-efer haparah et-bgadav vetame ad-ha’arev vehayetah livney Yisra’el velager hagar betocham lechukat olam.
וְכִבֶּס הָאֹסֵף אֶת-אֵפֶר הַפָּרָה, אֶת-בְּגָדָיו, וְטָמֵא, עַד-הָעָרֶב; וְהָיְתָה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְלַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכָם–לְחֻקַּת עוֹלָם.

19:11
If one has contact with any dead human being, he shall become ritually unclean for seven days.
Hanogea bemet lechol-nefesh adam vetame shiv’at yamim.
הַנֹּגֵעַ בְּמֵת, לְכָל-נֶפֶשׁ אָדָם–וְטָמֵא, שִׁבְעַת יָמִים.

19:12
[In order to become] clean, he must have himself sprinkled [with the purification water] on the third day and the seventh day.
Hu yitchata-vo bayom hashlishi uvayom hashvi’i yithar ve’im-lo yitchata bayom hashlishi uvayom hashvi’i lo yithar.
הוּא יִתְחַטָּא-בוֹ בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי, וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי–יִטְהָר; וְאִם-לֹא יִתְחַטָּא בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי, וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי–לֹא יִטְהָר.

19:13
Any person who touches the corpse of a human being who has died, and does not have himself sprinkled, shall be cut off [spiritually] from Israel if he defiles God’s Tabernacle [by entering it].
Kol-hanogea bemet benefesh ha’adam asher-yamut velo yitchata et-Mishkan Adonay time venichretah hanefesh hahi miYisra’el ki mey nidah lo-zorak alav tame yihyeh od tum’ato vo.
כָּל-הַנֹּגֵעַ בְּמֵת בְּנֶפֶשׁ הָאָדָם אֲשֶׁר-יָמוּת וְלֹא יִתְחַטָּא, אֶת-מִשְׁכַּן יְהוָה טִמֵּא–וְנִכְרְתָה הַנֶּפֶשׁ הַהִוא, מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל: כִּי מֵי נִדָּה לֹא-זֹרַק עָלָיו, טָמֵא יִהְיֶה–עוֹד, טֻמְאָתוֹ בוֹ.

19:14
When a man dies in a tent, this is the law: Everything that comes into the tent or was [originally] in the tent shall be unclean for seven days.
Zot hatorah adam ki-yamut be’ohel kol-haba el-ha’ohel vechol-asher ba’ohel yitma shiv’at yamim.
זֹאת, הַתּוֹרָה, אָדָם, כִּי-יָמוּת בְּאֹהֶל: כָּל-הַבָּא אֶל-הָאֹהֶל וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר בָּאֹהֶל, יִטְמָא שִׁבְעַת יָמִים.

19:15
Every open vessel that does not have an airtight seal shall be unclean.
Vechol kli fatuach asher eyn-tsamid patil alav tame hu.
וְכֹל כְּלִי פָתוּחַ, אֲשֶׁר אֵין-צָמִיד פָּתִיל עָלָיו–טָמֵא, הוּא.

19:16
[Similarly], anyone who touches a victim of the sword, [any other] corpse, a human bone, or a grave, [even] in the open field, shall be unclean for seven days.
Vechol asher-yiga al-peney hasadeh bachalal-cherev o vemet o-ve’etsem adam o vekaver yitma shiv’at yamim.
וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר-יִגַּע עַל-פְּנֵי הַשָּׂדֶה, בַּחֲלַל-חֶרֶב אוֹ בְמֵת, אוֹ-בְעֶצֶם אָדָם, אוֹ בְקָבֶר–יִטְמָא, שִׁבְעַת יָמִים.

19:17
Some of the dust from the burnt purification offering shall be taken for such an unclean person. It shall be placed into a vessel that has been [filled with water directly] from a running spring.
Velakchu latameh me’afar srefat hachatat venatan alav mayim chayim el-keli.
וְלָקְחוּ, לַטָּמֵא, מֵעֲפַר, שְׂרֵפַת הַחַטָּאת; וְנָתַן עָלָיו מַיִם חַיִּים, אֶל-כֶּלִי.
