4:21
God spoke to Moses, saying:

Vayedaber Adonay el-Moshe lemor.

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר.

4:22
Also take a census of Gershon’s descendants by families, following the paternal line.

Naso et-rosh beney Gershon gam-hem leveyt avotam lemishpechotam.

נָשֹׂא, אֶת-רֹאשׁ בְּנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹן–גַּם-הֵם: לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם.

4:23
Take a tally of those from 30 to 50 years old, all who are fit for duty in the Communion Tent’s service.

Miben shloshim shanah vamalah ad ben-chamishim shanah tifkod otam kol-haba litsvo tsava la’avod avodah be’Ohel Mo’ed.

מִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה, עַד בֶּן-חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה–תִּפְקֹד אוֹתָם: כָּל-הַבָּא לִצְבֹא צָבָא, לַעֲבֹד עֲבֹדָה בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

4:24
The Gershonite family shall serve by maintaining and carrying as follows:

Zot avodat mishpechot haGershuni la’avod ulemasa.

זֹאת עֲבֹדַת, מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי–לַעֲבֹד, וּלְמַשָּׂא.

4:25
They shall carry the Tabernacle’s tapestries, the Communion Tent, the roof, the over-roof of blue processed skins that is above it, the drape at the Communion Tent entrance,

Venase’u et-yeri’ot haMishkan ve’et-Ohel Mo’ed michsehu umichseh hatachash asher-alav milmalah ve’et-masach petach Ohel Mo’ed.

וְנָשְׂאוּ אֶת-יְרִיעֹת הַמִּשְׁכָּן, וְאֶת-אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, מִכְסֵהוּ, וּמִכְסֵה הַתַּחַשׁ אֲשֶׁר-עָלָיו מִלְמָעְלָה; וְאֶת-מָסַךְ–פֶּתַח, אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

4:26
the enclosure’s hangings, the drape at the entrance to the enclosure around the Tabernacle and altar, the guy-ropes, all their appropriate tools, and everything necessary for their maintenance.

Ve’et kal’ey hechatser ve’et-masach petach sha’ar hechatser asher al-haMishkan ve’al-hamizbe’ach saviv ve’et meytreyhem ve’et-kol-kley avodatam ve’et kol-asher ye’aseh lahem ve’avadu.

וְאֵת קַלְעֵי הֶחָצֵר וְאֶת-מָסַךְ פֶּתַח שַׁעַר הֶחָצֵר, אֲשֶׁר עַל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְעַל-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ סָבִיב, וְאֵת מֵיתְרֵיהֶם, וְאֶת-כָּל-כְּלֵי עֲבֹדָתָם; וְאֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר יֵעָשֶׂה לָהֶם, וְעָבָדוּ.

4:27
All the carrying and maintenance service of the Gershonites shall be under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. [The Gershonites] shall have fixed appointments for everything they carry.

Al-pi Aharon uvanav tihyeh kol-avodat bney haGershuni lechol-masa’am ulechol avodatam ufekadetem alehem bemishmeret et kol-masa’am.

עַל-פִּי אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו תִּהְיֶה, כָּל-עֲבֹדַת בְּנֵי הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי, לְכָל-מַשָּׂאָם, וּלְכֹל עֲבֹדָתָם; וּפְקַדְתֶּם עֲלֵהֶם בְּמִשְׁמֶרֶת, אֵת כָּל-מַשָּׂאָם.

4:28
The above is the Gershonite family’s service for the Communion Tent. Their duties shall be under the supervision of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest.

Zot avodat mishpechot beney haGershuni be’Ohel Mo’ed umishmartam beyad Itamar ben-Aharon hakohen.

זֹאת עֲבֹדַת, מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי–בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד; וּמִשְׁמַרְתָּם–בְּיַד אִיתָמָר, בֶּן-אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן.

4:29
Take a tally of Merari’s descendants by family, following the paternal line.

Beney Merari lemishpechotam leveyt-avotam tifkod otam.

בְּנֵי, מְרָרִי–לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לְבֵית-אֲבֹתָם, תִּפְקֹד אֹתָם.

4:30
Take the tally of those from 30 to 50 years old, all who are fit for duty in the Communion Tent’s service.

Miben shloshim shanah vamalah ve’ad ben-chamishim shanah tifkedem kol-haba latsava la’avod et-avodat Ohel Mo’ed.

מִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה, וְעַד בֶּן-חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה–תִּפְקְדֵם: כָּל-הַבָּא, לַצָּבָא, לַעֲבֹד, אֶת-עֲבֹדַת אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

4:31
They shall be entrusted to carry and maintain the following items in the Communion Tent: the beams, crossbars, pillars and bases of the Tabernacle;

Vezot mishmeret masa’am lechol-avodatam be’Ohel Mo’ed karshey haMishkan uvrichav ve’amudav va’adanav.

וְזֹאת מִשְׁמֶרֶת מַשָּׂאָם, לְכָל-עֲבֹדָתָם בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד: קַרְשֵׁי, הַמִּשְׁכָּן, וּבְרִיחָיו, וְעַמּוּדָיו וַאֲדָנָיו.

4:32
the pillars of the surrounding enclosure, their bases, stakes and guy-ropes, all their tools, and all their maintenance equipment. They shall be appointed by name to carry all the articles with which they are entrusted.

Ve’amudey hechatser saviv ve’adneyhem vitedotam umeytreyhem lechol-kleyhem ulechol avodatam uveshemot tifkedu et-kley mishmeret masa’am.

וְעַמּוּדֵי הֶחָצֵר סָבִיב וְאַדְנֵיהֶם, וִיתֵדֹתָם וּמֵיתְרֵיהֶם, לְכָל-כְּלֵיהֶם, וּלְכֹל עֲבֹדָתָם; וּבְשֵׁמֹת תִּפְקְדוּ, אֶת-כְּלֵי מִשְׁמֶרֶת מַשָּׂאָם.

4:33
The above is the work comprising the entire service of Merari’s descendants in the Communion Tent. It shall be under the direction of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest.

Zot avodat mishpechot beney Merari lechol-avodatam be’Ohel Mo’ed beyad Itamar ben-Aharon hakohen.

זֹאת עֲבֹדַת, מִשְׁפְּחֹת בְּנֵי מְרָרִי, לְכָל-עֲבֹדָתָם, בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד–בְּיַד, אִיתָמָר, בֶּן-אַהֲרֹן, הַכֹּהֵן.

4:34
Moses, Aaron and the communal leaders took a tally of the descendants of the Kehothites by family, following the paternal line,

Vayifkod Moshe ve’Aharon unesi’ey ha’edah et-bney haKehati lemishpechotam uleveyt avotam.

וַיִּפְקֹד מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן וּנְשִׂיאֵי הָעֵדָה, אֶת-בְּנֵי הַקְּהָתִי, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם, וּלְבֵית אֲבֹתָם.

4:35
and including everyone from 30 to 50 years old who was fit for duty in the Communion Tent’s service.

Miben shloshim shanah vamalah ve’ad ben-chamishim shanah kol-haba latsava la’avodah be’Ohel Mo’ed.

מִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה, וְעַד בֶּן-חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה–כָּל-הַבָּא, לַצָּבָא, לַעֲבֹדָה, בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

4:36
Their tally by families was 2750.

Vayihyu fekudeyhem lemishpechotam alpayim sheva me’ot vachamishim.

וַיִּהְיוּ פְקֻדֵיהֶם, לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם–אַלְפַּיִם, שְׁבַע מֵאוֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁים.

4:37
This was the complete tally of the Kehothite family, for all who served in the Communion Tent, as taken by Moses and Aaron. It was done as God had directed Moses.

Eleh fekudey mishpechot haKehati kol-ha’oved be’Ohel Mo’ed asher pakad Moshe ve’Aharon al-pi Adonay beyad-Moshe.

אֵלֶּה פְקוּדֵי מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי, כָּל-הָעֹבֵד בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, אֲשֶׁר פָּקַד מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן, עַל-פִּי יְהוָה בְּיַד-מֹשֶׁה.
