41:39
Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has informed you about all this, there can be no one with as much insight and wisdom as you.
Vayomer Par’oh el-Yosef acharey hodia Elohim otcha et-kol-zot eyn-navon vechacham kamocha.
וַיֹּאמֶר פַּרְעֹה אֶל-יוֹסֵף, אַחֲרֵי הוֹדִיעַ אֱלֹהִים אוֹתְךָ אֶת-כָּל-זֹאת, אֵין-נָבוֹן וְחָכָם, כָּמוֹךָ.
 

41:40
You shall be in charge of my government, and food will be distributed to my people by your orders. Only by the throne will I outrank you.’
Atah tihyeh al-beyti ve’al-picha yishak kol-ami rak hakise egdal mimeka.
אַתָּה תִּהְיֶה עַל-בֵּיתִי, וְעַל-פִּיךָ יִשַּׁק כָּל-עַמִּי; רַק הַכִּסֵּא, אֶגְדַּל מִמֶּךָּ.
 

41:41
Pharaoh then formally declared to Joseph, ‘I am placing you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.’
Vayomer Par’oh el-Yosef re’eh natati otcha al kol-erets Mitsrayim.
וַיֹּאמֶר פַּרְעֹה, אֶל-יוֹסֵף: רְאֵה נָתַתִּי אֹתְךָ, עַל כָּל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
 

41:42
Pharaoh took his ring off his own hand and placed it on the hand of Joseph. He had him dressed in the finest linen garments, and placed a gold chain around his neck.
Vayasar Par’oh et-tabato me’al yado vayiten otah al-yad Yosef vayalbesh oto bigdey-shesh vayasem revid hazahav al-tsavaro.
וַיָּסַר פַּרְעֹה אֶת-טַבַּעְתּוֹ מֵעַל יָדוֹ, וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָהּ עַל-יַד יוֹסֵף; וַיַּלְבֵּשׁ אֹתוֹ בִּגְדֵי-שֵׁשׁ, וַיָּשֶׂם רְבִד הַזָּהָב עַל-צַוָּארוֹ.
 

41:43
He had [Joseph] ride in his second royal chariot, and [those going] ahead of him announced, ‘The Viceroy!’ [Joseph] was thus given authority over all Egypt.
Vayarkev oto bemirkevet hamishneh asher-lo vayikre’u lefanav avrech venaton oto al kol-erets Mitsrayim.
וַיַּרְכֵּב אֹתוֹ, בְּמִרְכֶּבֶת הַמִּשְׁנֶה אֲשֶׁר-לוֹ, וַיִּקְרְאוּ לְפָנָיו, אַבְרֵךְ; וְנָתוֹן אֹתוֹ, עַל כָּל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
 

41:44
Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘I am Pharaoh. Without your say, no man will lift a hand or foot in all Egypt.’
Vayomer Par’oh el-Yosef ani Far’oh uvil’adeycha lo-yarim ish et-yado ve’et-raglo bechol-erets Mitsrayim.
וַיֹּאמֶר פַּרְעֹה אֶל-יוֹסֵף, אֲנִי פַרְעֹה; וּבִלְעָדֶיךָ, לֹא-יָרִים אִישׁ אֶת-יָדוֹ וְאֶת-רַגְלוֹ–בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
 

41:45
Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Tzaphnath Paaneach. He gave him Asenath, daughter of Poti Phera, the priest of On, as a wife. Joseph thus went out to oversee Egypt.
Vayikra Far’oh shem-Yosef Tsofnat Paneach vayiten-lo et-Osnat bat-Poti Fera kohen On le’ishah vayetse Yosef al-erets Mitsrayim.
וַיִּקְרָא פַרְעֹה שֵׁם-יוֹסֵף, צָפְנַת פַּעְנֵחַ, וַיִּתֶּן-לוֹ אֶת-אָסְנַת בַּת-פּוֹטִי פֶרַע כֹּהֵן אֹן, לְאִשָּׁה; וַיֵּצֵא יוֹסֵף, עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
 

41:46
When he stood before Pharaoh, Joseph was 30 years old. Joseph left Pharaoh’s court, and he made an inspection tour of the entire land of Egypt.
VeYosef ben-shloshim shanah be’omdo lifney Par’oh melech-Mitsrayim vayetse Yosef milifney Far’oh vaya’avor bechol erets Mitsrayim.
וְיוֹסֵף, בֶּן-שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה, בְּעָמְדוֹ, לִפְנֵי פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ-מִצְרָיִם; וַיֵּצֵא יוֹסֵף מִלִּפְנֵי פַרְעֹה, וַיַּעֲבֹר בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם.
 

41:47
During the seven years of surplus, the land produced loads of grain.
Vata’as ha’arets besheva shney hasava likmatsim.
וַתַּעַשׂ הָאָרֶץ, בְּשֶׁבַע שְׁנֵי הַשָּׂבָע–לִקְמָצִים.
 

41:48
[Joseph] collected the food during the seven years that Egypt was now enjoying, and he placed the food in the cities. The food growing in the fields around each city was placed inside [the city].
Vayikbots et-kol-ochel sheva shanim asher hayu be’erets Mitsrayim vayiten-ochel be’arim ochel sdeh-ha’ir asher svivoteyha natan betochah.
וַיִּקְבֹּץ אֶת-כָּל-אֹכֶל שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים, אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם, וַיִּתֶּן-אֹכֶל, בֶּעָרִים: אֹכֶל שְׂדֵה-הָעִיר אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֹתֶיהָ, נָתַן בְּתוֹכָהּ.
 

41:49
Joseph accumulated so much grain, it was like the sand of the sea. They had to give up counting it, since there was too much to count.
Vayitsbor Yosef bar kechol hayam harbeh me’od ad ki-chadal lispor ki-eyn mispar.
וַיִּצְבֹּר יוֹסֵף בָּר כְּחוֹל הַיָּם, הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד–עַד כִּי-חָדַל לִסְפֹּר, כִּי-אֵין מִסְפָּר.
 

41:50
Joseph had two sons before the famine years came, borne to him by Asenath, daughter of Poti Phera, priest of On.
Ule-Yosef yulad shney vanim beterem tavo shnat hara’av asher yaldah-lo Osnat bat-Poti Fera kohen On.
וּלְיוֹסֵף יֻלַּד שְׁנֵי בָנִים, בְּטֶרֶם תָּבוֹא שְׁנַת הָרָעָב, אֲשֶׁר יָלְדָה-לּוֹ אָסְנַת, בַּת-פּוֹטִי פֶרַע כֹּהֵן אוֹן.
 

41:51
Joseph named the first-born Manasseh (Me-nasheh) – ‘because God has made me forget (nasheh) all my troubles – and even my father’s house.’
Vayikra Yosef et-shem habechor Menasheh ki-nashani Elohim et-kol-amali ve’et kol-beyt avi.
וַיִּקְרָא יוֹסֵף אֶת-שֵׁם הַבְּכוֹר, מְנַשֶּׁה: כִּי-נַשַּׁנִי אֱלֹהִים אֶת-כָּל-עֲמָלִי, וְאֵת כָּל-בֵּית אָבִי.
 

41:52
He named his second son Ephraim – ‘Because God has made me fruitful (p’ri) in the land of my suffering.’
Ve’et shem hasheni kara Efrayim ki-hifrani Elohim be’erets oni’i.
וְאֵת שֵׁם הַשֵּׁנִי, קָרָא אֶפְרָיִם: כִּי-הִפְרַנִי אֱלֹהִים, בְּאֶרֶץ עָנְיִי.
