Haftara Vayigash

Ezekiel 37.15-28

And the word of God came to me, saying: Son of man, take a stick, and write on it, “For Judah, and the children of Israel, his companions”; then take another stick, and write on it, “For Joseph, the stick of Ephriam, and all the house of Israel, his companions.” Join them together into one stick, so that they one in your hand. The children of your people will say to you, “Will you not tell us what you mean by these?” Say to them, “This says God the Lord: Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in Ephraim’s hand, and the tribes of Israel his companions; and put it together with the stick of Judah, to form one stick, so they are one in My hand.” With the sticks on which you write in your hand for them to see.

Say to them;”Thus says God the Lord; Behold I will take the children of Israel from among the nations into which they have gone, and gather them on every side, and bring them to their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel. One king will be the king over them all, and they will no longer be two nations, and no longer divided into two kingdoms. Nor will they defile themselves any more with their idols, their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions; but I will save them from all their dwelling places, in which they have sinned, and purify them. They will be My people, and I will be their God.

My servant David will be king over them all and they will have one shepherd. They will follow my judgements, observe My statutes and practice them. They will dwell in the land in which your fathers dwelt, which I gave to Jacob My servant; they, and their children, and their children’s children, forever; and David My servant will be their prince forever. In addition, I will make a covenant of peace with them (it will be an everlasting covenant which I give them); and I will establish them and multiply them, I will set My sanctuary in their midst for all time. My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people. Then nations will know that I, God, sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary is in their midst forever.
