God said to me, ‘See! I have begun to place Sichon and his land before you. Begin the occupation and take possession of his land.’

Vayomer Adonay elay re’eh hachiloti tet lefaneycha et-Sichon ve’et-artso hachel rash lareshet et-artso.

Sichon and all his troops came out to meet us in battle at Yahatz.

Vayetse Sichon likratenu hu vechol-amo lamilchamah Yahtsah.

God our Lord gave him over to us, so that we killed him along with his sons and all his troops.

Vayitnehu Adonay Eloheynu lefaneynu vanach oto ve’et-banav ve’et-kol-amo.

2:34
We then captured all his cities, and we annihilated every city, including the men, women and children, not leaving any survivors.

Vanilkod et-kol-arav ba’et hahi vanacharem et-kol-ir metim vehanashim vehataf lo hish’arnu sarid.

All that we took as our plunder were the animals and the goods of the cities we captured.

Rak habehemah bazaznu lanu ushlal he’arim asher lachadnu.

2:36
Thus, in [the entire territory] from Aro’er on the edge of the Arnon Gorge and the city in the valley itself, to the Gilead, there was no city that could defend itself against us, since God had placed everything at our disposal.

Me’Aro’er asher al-sfat-nachal Arnon veha’ir asher banachal ve’ad-haGil’ad lo hayetah kiryah asher sagvah mimenu et-hakol natan Adonay Eloheynu lefaneynu.

The only land that we did not approach was the Ammonite territory, which included the area around the Jabbok, the cities of the highlands, and all the other [areas] that God our Lord had commanded us [to avoid].

3:1
We then turned and traveled along the road to the Bashan, where Og and his troops came to confront us in battle at Edre’i.

Vanefen vana’al derech haBashan vayetse Og melech-haBashan likratenu hu vechol-amo lamilchamah Edre’i.

3:2
God said to me, ‘Do not be afraid of him, since I have turned him over to you along with all his people and his land. You will do the same to him as you did to the Amorite king Sichon, who lived in Cheshbon.’

Vayomer Adonay elay al-tira oto ki veyadcha natati oto ve’et-kol-amo ve’et-artso ve’asita lo ka’asher asita le-Sichon melech ha’Emori asher yoshev beCheshbon.

3:3
God thus also turned Og, king of the Bashan, and all his people over to us, and we defeated him, not leaving any survivors.

Vayiten Adonay Eloheynu beyadeynu gam et-Og melech-haBashan ve’et-kol-amo vanakehu ad-bilti hish’ir-lo sarid.

3:4
We then captured all his cities, not leaving a single city that we did not take from [his people]. These included the entire Argov group of 60 cities that constituted Og’s kingdom in the Bashan.

Vanilkod et-kol-arav ba’et hahi lo hayetah kiryah asher lo-lakachnu me’itam shishim ir kol-chevel argov mamlechet Og baBashan.

3:5
They were all cities fortified with high walls, gates and bars, and there were also very many open towns.

Kol-eleh arim betsurot chomah gevohah delatayim uveriach levad me’arey haperazi harbeh me’od.

3:6
We destroyed [these cities] just as we had done to those of Sichon, king of Cheshbon, annihilating every man, woman and child.

Vanacharem otam ka’asher asinu le-Sichon melech Cheshbon hacharem kol-ir metim hanashim vehataf.

3:7
For ourselves, we took as plunder all the animals and all the spoils of the cities.

Vechol-habehemah ushlal he’arim bazonu lanu.

3:8
At that time we thus took the lands of the two Amorite kings who lived to the east of the Jordan, in the area between the Arnon Brook and Mount Hermon.

Vanikach ba’et hahi et-ha’arets miyad shney malchey ha’Emori asher be’ever haYarden minachal Arnon ad-har Chermon.

3:9
(The people of Sidon refer to Hermon as Siryon, while the Amorites call it Senir.)

Tsidonim yikre’u le-Chermon Siryon veha’Emori yikre’u-lo Snir.

3:10
[The occupied territory included] all the cities of the flatlands, the entire Gilead, and the entire Bashan as far as Salkhah and Edre’i; the cities of Og’s kingdom in the Bashan.

Kol arey hamishor vechol-haGil’ad vechol-haBashan ad-Salchah ve’Edre’i arey mamlechet Og baBashan.

3:11
Of all the Rephaim, only Og had survived. His bed was made of iron. It is in the Ammonite city of Rabbah, nine standard cubits long and four cubits wide.

Of the land that we then captured, I gave the Reubenites and Gaddites [the territory] between Aro’er on the Arnon Gorge and the [southern] half of the Gilead highlands, along with the cities there.

Ve’et-ha’arets hazot yarashnu ba’et hahi me’Aro’er asher-al nachal Arnon vachatsi har-haGil’ad ve’arav natati la-Re’uveni vela-Gadi.

3:13
The rest of the Gilead and the entire Bashan which had been Og’s kingdom, I gave to half of the tribe of Manasseh. This included the entire Argov group and the entire Bashan, which was known as the land of the Rephaim.

Veyeter haGil’ad vechol-haBashan mamlechet Og natati lachatsi shevet haMenasheh kol chevel ha’Argov lechol-haBashan hahu yikare erets Refa’im.

3:14
Yair, a descendant of Manasseh, took the Argov group as far as the borders of the Geshurites and Maakhathites, and he gave that area in the Bashan the name Chavvath Yair, [a name] which is still used today.

Ya’ir ben-Menasheh lakach et-kol-chevel Argov ad-gvul haGeshuri vehaMa’achati vayikra otam al-shmo et-haBashan chavot ya’ir ad hayom hazeh.
