Moses said to God, ‘You told me to bring these people [to the Promised Land], but You did not tell me whom You would send with me. You also said that You know me by name and that You are pleased with me.

Vayomer Moshe el-Adonay re’eh atah omer elay ha’al et-ha’am hazeh ve’atah lo hodatani et asher-tishlach imi ve’atah amarta yedaticha veshem vegam-matsata chen be’eynay.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-יְהוָה, רְאֵה אַתָּה אֹמֵר אֵלַי הַעַל אֶת-הָעָם הַזֶּה, וְאַתָּה לֹא הוֹדַעְתַּנִי, אֵת אֲשֶׁר-תִּשְׁלַח עִמִּי; וְאַתָּה אָמַרְתָּ יְדַעְתִּיךָ בְשֵׁם, וְגַם-מָצָאתָ חֵן בְּעֵינָי.

‘Now, if You are indeed pleased with me, allow me to know Your ways, so that I will know how to [remain] pleasing to You. [Also], You must confirm that this nation is Your people.’

Ve’atah im-na matsati chen be’eyneycha hodi’eni na et-derachecha ve’eda’acha lema’an emtsa-chen be’eyneycha ure’eh ki amecha hagoy hazeh.
וְעַתָּה אִם-נָא מָצָאתִי חֵן בְּעֵינֶיךָ, הוֹדִעֵנִי נָא אֶת-דְּרָכֶךָ, וְאֵדָעֲךָ, לְמַעַן אֶמְצָא-חֵן בְּעֵינֶיךָ; וּרְאֵה, כִּי עַמְּךָ הַגּוֹי הַזֶּה.
33:14
‘My presence will go and lead you,’ replied [God].

וַיֹּאמַר: פָּנַי יֵלֵכוּ, וַהֲנִחֹתִי לָךְ.

[Moses] said, ‘If Your presence does not accompany [us], do not make us leave this place.

Vayomer elav im-eyn paneycha holchim al-ta’alenu mizeh.
וַיֹּאמֶר, אֵלָיו: אִם-אֵין פָּנֶיךָ הֹלְכִים, אַל-תַּעֲלֵנוּ מִזֶּה.

Unless You accompany us, how can it be known that I and Your people are pleasing to You? [But if You do,] I and your people will be distinguished from every nation on the face of the earth.’

Uvameh yivada efo ki-matsati chen be’eyneycha ani ve’amecha halo belechtecha imanu veniflinu ani ve’amcha mikol-ha’am asher al-peney ha’damah.
וּבַמֶּה יִוָּדַע אֵפוֹא, כִּי-מָצָאתִי חֵן בְּעֵינֶיךָ אֲנִי וְעַמֶּךָ–הֲלוֹא, בְּלֶכְתְּךָ עִמָּנוּ; וְנִפְלִינוּ, אֲנִי וְעַמְּךָ, מִכָּל-הָעָם, אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה.
