Ezekiel 28.25-29.21
Thus said God the Lord: When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and have revealed My holiness through them in the sight of the nations, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to My servant Jacob. They will dwell securely in it, and build houses and plant vineyards. They will dwell securely after I have executed judgements upon all those who treated them with disdain; and they will know that I am God their Lord.
In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, God’s word came to me saying:
Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt. Prophesy against him and against all of Egypt. Speak and say: Thus says God the Lord: Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon lying in the midst of his rivers, who says, “My Nile is my own, I made it.” I will put hooks in your jaws, make the fish of your rivers sticking to you scales. I will cast you into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers; you will fall upon the open field. You will neither be gathered nor buried, I have given you for food to the beasts of the earth and the fowls of the heaven.
Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am God, because they have been a staff of reeds to the house of Israel, breaking when they took your hand and tearing their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you broke and caused their loins to stagger. Therefore. thus says God the Lord; Behold, I will bring a sword on you, and will cut off from you man and beast. The land of Egypt will be desolate and waste, and they will know that I am God; because he said, “My Nile is my own, I made it.”
Therefore, behold, I am against you, and against your rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from Migdol to Syene as far as the borders of Ethiopia. No foot of man or beast will pass through it; it will be uninhabited for forty years. I will make the land of Egypt a desolation among desolated countries. For forty years her cities will be desolation among cities which are wasted. I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among the countries.
For thus says God the Lord: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from among the peoples they were scattered; And I will turn the captivity of Egypt, and return them to the land of Pathos, the land of their birth; and they will be a lowly kingdom. It will be the lowest of the kingdoms, and never again rise above the nations. I will diminish them that they will never again rule over the nations.
And it shall never again be the confidence of the house of Israel, who will remember their iniquity when they turn to them. Then they will know that I am God the Lord.
A son of man, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, made his army fight hard against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was blistered, yet neither he nor his army gained any wages for the campaign that he directed against Tyre. Therefore, thus says God the Lord: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and he will carry off her wealth, despoil and plunder her, take he prey; and it will be the wages for his army.
I have given him the land of Egypt as his recompense for which he served, because they worked for Me, says God the Lord.
On that day I will cause a horn to spring forth for the house of Israel, and I will give you open lips in their midst; and they will know that I am God.
