Seventh Aliyah
5:25
And Methuselah lived a hundred eighty and seven years, and begot Lamech.
Vayechi Metushelach sheva ushmonim shanah ume’at shanah vayoled et-Lamech.
וַיְחִי מְתוּשֶׁלַח שֶׁבַע וּשְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה וּמְאַת שָׁנָה וַיּוֹלֶד אֶת־ לָֽמֶךְ׃
5:26
And Methuselah lived after he begot Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begot sons and daughters.
Vayechi Metushelach acharey holido et-Lemech shtayim ushmonim shanah ushva me’ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִי מְתוּשֶׁלַח אַֽחֲרֵי הוֹלִידוֹ אֶת־ לֶמֶךְ שְׁתַּיִם וּשְׁמוֹנִים שָׁנָה וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה וַיּוֹלֶד בָּנִים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
5:27
And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years; and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Metushelach tesha veshishim shanah utsha me’ot shanah vayamot.
וַיִּהְיוּ כָּל־ יְמֵי מְתוּשֶׁלַח תֵּשַׁע וְשִׁשִּׁים שָׁנָה וּתְשַׁע מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
5:28
And Lamech lived a hundred eighty and two years, and begot a son.
Vayechi-Lemech shtayim ushmonim shanah ume’at shanah vayoled ben.
וַֽיְחִי־ לֶמֶךְ שְׁתַּיִם וּשְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה וּמְאַת שָׁנָה וַיּוֹלֶד בֵּֽן׃
5:29
And he called his name Noah, saying: ‘This same shall comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, which cometh from the ground which the
LORD hath cursed.’
Vayikra et-shemo Noach lemor zeh yenachamenu mima’asenu ume’itsvon yadeynu min-ha’adamah asher erarah Adonay.
וַיִּקְרָא אֶת־ שְׁמוֹ נֹחַ לֵאמֹר זֶהc יְנַחֲמֵנוּ מִֽמַּעֲשֵׂנוּ וּמֵעִצְּבוֹן יָדֵינוּ מִן־ הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר אֵֽרְרָהּ יְהוָֽה׃
5:30
And Lamech lived after he begot Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begot sons and daughters.
Vayechi-Lemech acharey holido et-Noach chamesh vetish’im shanah vachamesh me’ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִי־ לֶמֶךְ אַֽחֲרֵי הוֹלִידוֹ אֶת־ נֹחַ חָמֵשׁ וְתִשְׁעִים שָׁנָה וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאֹת שָׁנָה וַיּוֹלֶד בָּנִים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
5:31
And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years; and he died.
Vayehi kol-yemey-Lemech sheva veshiv’im shanah ushva me’ot shanah vayamot.
וַֽיְהִי כָּל־ יְמֵי־ לֶמֶךְ שֶׁבַע וְשִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
5:32
And Noah was five hundred years old; and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Vayehi Noach ben-chamesh me’ot shanah vayoled Noach et-Shem et-Cham ve’et Yafet.
וַֽיְהִי־ נֹחַ בֶּן־ חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת שָׁנָה וַיּוֹלֶד נֹחַ אֶת־ שֵׁם אֶת־ חָם וְאֶת־ יָֽפֶת׃
6:1
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Vayehi ki-hechel ha’adam larov al-peney ha’adamah uvanot yuledu lahem.
וַֽיְהִי כִּֽי־ הֵחֵל הָֽאָדָם לָרֹב עַל־ פְּנֵי הָֽאֲדָמָה וּבָנוֹת יֻלְּדוּ לָהֶֽם׃
6:2
that the sons of G-d saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives, whomsoever they chose.
Vayir’u beney ha’Elohim et-benot ha’adam ki tovot henah vayikchu lahem nashim mikol asher bacharu.
וַיִּרְאוּ בְנֵי־ הָֽאֱלֹהִים אֶת־ בְּנוֹת הָֽאָדָם כִּי טֹבֹת הֵנָּה וַיִּקְחוּ לָהֶם נָשִׁים מִכֹּל אֲשֶׁר בָּחָֽרוּ׃
6:3
And the LORD said: ‘My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for that he also is flesh; therefore shall his days be a hundred and twenty years.’
Vayomer Adonay lo-yadon ruchi va’adam le’olam beshagam hu vasar vehayu yamav me’ah ve’esrim shanah.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה לֹֽא־ יָדוֹן רוּחִי בָֽאָדָם לְעֹלָם בְּשַׁגַּם הוּא בָשָׂר וְהָיוּ יָמָיו מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָֽה׃
6:4
The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of G-d came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.
Hanefilim hayu va’arets bayamim hahem vegam acharey-chen asher yavo’u beney ha’Elohim el-benot ha’adam veyaledu lahem hemah hagiborim asher me’olam anshey hashem.
הַנְּפִלִים הָיוּ בָאָרֶץ בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם וְגַם אַֽחֲרֵי־ כֵן אֲשֶׁר יָבֹאוּ בְּנֵי הָֽאֱלֹהִים אֶל־ בְּנוֹת הָֽאָדָם וְיָלְדוּ לָהֶם הֵמָּה הַגִּבֹּרִים אֲשֶׁר מֵעוֹלָם אַנְשֵׁי הַשֵּֽׁם׃
6:5
And the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Vayar Adonay ki rabah ra’at ha’adam ba’arets vechol-yetser machshevot libo rak ra kol-hayom.
וַיַּרְא יְהוָה כִּי רַבָּה רָעַת הָאָדָם בָּאָרֶץ וְכָל־ יֵצֶר מַחְשְׁבֹת לִבּוֹ רַק רַע כָּל־ הַיּֽוֹם׃
6:6
And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.
Vayinachem Adonay ki asah et-ha’adam ba’arets vayit’atsev el-libo.
וַיִּנָּחֶם יְהוָה כִּֽי־ עָשָׂה אֶת־ הָֽאָדָם בָּאָרֶץ וַיִּתְעַצֵּב אֶל־ לִבּֽוֹ׃
6:7
And the LORD said: ‘I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and creeping thing, and fowl of the air; for it repenteth Me that I have made them.’
Vayomer Adonay emecheh et ha’adam asher-barati me’al peney ha’adamah me’adam ad-behemah ad-remes ve’ad-of hashamayim ki nichamti ki asitim.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶמְחֶה אֶת־ הָאָדָם אֲשֶׁר־ בָּרָאתִי מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָֽאֲדָמָה מֵֽאָדָם עַד־ בְּהֵמָה עַד־ רֶמֶשׂ וְעַד־ עוֹף הַשָּׁמָיִם כִּי נִחַמְתִּי כִּי עֲשִׂיתִֽם׃
6:8
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
VeNoach matsa chen be’eyney Adonay.
וְנֹחַ מָצָא חֵן בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָֽה׃
