39:2
He made the ephod out of gold [thread], sky-blue, dark red and crimson wool, and twined linen.
Vaya’as et-ha’efod zahav techelet ve’argaman vetola’at shani veshesh moshezar.
וַיַּעַשׂ, אֶת-הָאֵפֹד: זָהָב, תְּכֵלֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן וְתוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי–וְשֵׁשׁ מָשְׁזָר.
 

39:3
They beat out thin sheets of gold, and cut them into threads, which were [then] included in the sky-blue, dark red and crimson wool, and the fine linen. [The ephod was made] as a patterned brocade.
Vayerake’u et-pachey hazahav vekitsets petilim la’asot betoch hatchelet uvetoch ha’argaman uvetoch tola’at hashani uvetoch hashesh ma’aseh choshev.
וַיְרַקְּעוּ אֶת-פַּחֵי הַזָּהָב, וְקִצֵּץ פְּתִילִם, לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּתוֹךְ הַתְּכֵלֶת וּבְתוֹךְ הָאַרְגָּמָן, וּבְתוֹךְ תּוֹלַעַת הַשָּׁנִי וּבְתוֹךְ הַשֵּׁשׁ–מַעֲשֵׂה, חֹשֵׁב.
 

39:4
They made shoulder pieces for it, sewn to its two corners.
Ktefot asu-lo choverot al-shney ketsotav chubar.
כְּתֵפֹת עָשׂוּ-לוֹ, חֹבְרֹת–עַל-שְׁנֵי קצוותו (קְצוֹתָיו), חֻבָּר.
 

39:5
The ephod’s attached belt, [woven] together with it, was made in the same manner, [also] out of gold [thread], sky-blue, dark red and crimson wool, and twined linen. [It was thus made] as God had commanded Moses.
Vecheshev afudato asher alav mimenu hu kema’asehu zahav techelet ve’argaman vetola’at shani veshesh moshezar ka’asher tsivah Adonay et-Moshe.
וְחֵשֶׁב אֲפֻדָּתוֹ אֲשֶׁר עָלָיו, מִמֶּנּוּ הוּא כְּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ, זָהָב תְּכֵלֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן וְתוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי, וְשֵׁשׁ מָשְׁזָר–כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה, אֶת-מֹשֶׁה.
 

39:6
They prepared the sardonyx stones to be placed in the settings. The [stones] were engraved as on a signet ring with the names of Israel’s sons.
Vaya’asu et-avney hashoham musabot mishbetsot zahav mefutachot pituchey chotam al-shmot beney-Yisra’el.
וַיַּעֲשׂוּ אֶת-אַבְנֵי הַשֹּׁהַם, מֻסַבֹּת מִשְׁבְּצֹת זָהָב, מְפֻתָּחֹת פִּתּוּחֵי חוֹתָם, עַל-שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.
 

39:7
He placed them on the ephod’s shoulder pieces as remembrance stones for Israel’s sons. [It was done] as God had commanded Moses.
Vayasem otam al kitfot ha’efod avney zikaron liveney Yisra’el ka’asher tsivah Adonay et-Moshe.
וַיָּשֶׂם אֹתָם, עַל כִּתְפֹת הָאֵפֹד–אַבְנֵי זִכָּרוֹן, לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה, אֶת-מֹשֶׁה.
 

39:8
He made the breastplate out of brocaded work, just like the ephod. [It was also] made from gold [thread], sky-blue, dark red and crimson wool, and twined linen.
Vaya’as et-hachoshen ma’aseh choshev kema’aseh efod zahav techelet ve’argaman vetola’at shani veshesh moshezar.
וַיַּעַשׂ אֶת-הַחֹשֶׁן מַעֲשֵׂה חֹשֵׁב, כְּמַעֲשֵׂה אֵפֹד: זָהָב, תְּכֵלֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן וְתוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי–וְשֵׁשׁ מָשְׁזָר.
 

39:9
The breastplate was made to be a square when folded over. It was a span long, and when folded over, a span wide.
Ravua hayah kaful asu et-hachoshen zeret orko vezeret rochbo kaful.
רָבוּעַ הָיָה כָּפוּל, עָשׂוּ אֶת-הַחֹשֶׁן–זֶרֶת אָרְכּוֹ וְזֶרֶת רָחְבּוֹ, כָּפוּל.
 

39:10
[The breastplate] was set with four rows of precious stones: The first row: carnelian, emerald, topaz.
Vayemale’u-vo arba’ah turey aven tur odem pitedah uvareket hatur ha’echad.
וַיְמַלְאוּ-בוֹ–אַרְבָּעָה, טוּרֵי אָבֶן: טוּר, אֹדֶם פִּטְדָה וּבָרֶקֶת–הַטּוּר, הָאֶחָד.
 

39:11
The second row: carbuncle, sapphire, beryl.
Vehatur hasheni nofech sapir veyahalom.
וְהַטּוּר, הַשֵּׁנִי–נֹפֶךְ סַפִּיר, וְיָהֲלֹם.
 

39:12
The third row: jacinth, agate, amethyst.
Vehatur hashlishi leshem shevo ve’achlamah.
וְהַטּוּר, הַשְּׁלִישִׁי–לֶשֶׁם שְׁבוֹ, וְאַחְלָמָה.
 

39:13
The fourth row: chyrsolite, onyx, jasper.
Vehatur harevi’i tarshish shoham veyoshfeh musabot mishbetsot zahav bemilu’otam.
וְהַטּוּר, הָרְבִיעִי–תַּרְשִׁישׁ שֹׁהַם, וְיָשְׁפֵה: מוּסַבֹּת מִשְׁבְּצֹת זָהָב, בְּמִלֻּאֹתָם.
 

39:14
The stones contained the names of Israel’s sons. There were twelve names, engraved as on a signet ring, one for each of the twelve tribes.
Veha’avanim al-shemot beney-Yisra’el henah shteym esreh al-shmotam pituchey chotam ish al-shmo lishneym asar shavet.
וְהָאֲבָנִים עַל-שְׁמֹת בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵנָּה, שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה–עַל-שְׁמֹתָם: פִּתּוּחֵי חֹתָם אִישׁ עַל-שְׁמוֹ, לִשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר שָׁבֶט.
 

39:15
Matched pure gold cables, braided like cords, were attached to the breastplate.
Vaya’asu al-hachoshen sharsherot gavlut ma’aseh avot zahav tahor.
וַיַּעֲשׂוּ עַל-הַחֹשֶׁן שַׁרְשְׁרֹת גַּבְלֻת, מַעֲשֵׂה עֲבֹת, זָהָב, טָהוֹר.
 

39:16
They made two gold settings and two gold rings, and they placed the two rings on the breastplate’s two [upper] corners.
Vaya’asu shtey mishbetsot zahav ushtey tabe’ot zahav vayitnu et-shtey hataba’ot al-shney ketsot hachoshen.
וַיַּעֲשׂוּ, שְׁתֵּי מִשְׁבְּצֹת זָהָב, וּשְׁתֵּי, טַבְּעֹת זָהָב; וַיִּתְּנוּ, אֶת-שְׁתֵּי הַטַּבָּעֹת, עַל-שְׁנֵי, קְצוֹת הַחֹשֶׁן.
 

39:17
The two gold braids were then attached to the two rings on the breastplate’s corners.
Vayitnu shtey ha’avotot hazahav al-shtey hataba’ot al-ketsot hachoshen.
וַיִּתְּנוּ, שְׁתֵּי הָעֲבֹתֹת הַזָּהָב, עַל-שְׁתֵּי, הַטַּבָּעֹת–עַל-קְצוֹת, הַחֹשֶׁן.
 

39:18
The two braids on the two corners were attached to the two settings, and they were thus attached to the ephod’s shoulder pieces toward the front.
Ve’et shtey ketsot shtey ha’avotot natenu al-shtey hamishbetsot vayitnum al-kitfot ha’efod el-mul panav.
וְאֵת שְׁתֵּי קְצוֹת שְׁתֵּי הָעֲבֹתֹת, נָתְנוּ עַל-שְׁתֵּי הַמִּשְׁבְּצֹת; וַיִּתְּנֻם עַל-כִּתְפֹת הָאֵפֹד, אֶל-מוּל פָּנָיו.
 

39:19
They made two gold rings and placed them on the breastplate’s two [lower] corners, on the edge toward the inside of the ephod.
Vaya’asu shtey tabe’ot zahav vayasimu al-shney ketsot hachoshen al-sefato asher el-ever ha’efod baytah.
וַיַּעֲשׂוּ, שְׁתֵּי טַבְּעֹת זָהָב, וַיָּשִׂימוּ, עַל-שְׁנֵי קְצוֹת הַחֹשֶׁן: עַל-שְׂפָתוֹ–אֲשֶׁר אֶל-עֵבֶר הָאֵפֹד, בָּיְתָה.
 

39:20
They made two gold rings, and placed them on the bottoms of the ephod’s two shoulder pieces toward the front, near where they were attached, above the ephod’s belt.
Vaya’asu shtey tabe’ot zahav vayitnum al-shtey chitfot ha’efod milematah mimul panav le’umat machbarto mima’al lecheshev ha’efod.
וַיַּעֲשׂוּ, שְׁתֵּי טַבְּעֹת זָהָב, וַיִּתְּנֻם עַל-שְׁתֵּי כִתְפֹת הָאֵפֹד מִלְּמַטָּה מִמּוּל פָּנָיו, לְעֻמַּת מַחְבַּרְתּוֹ–מִמַּעַל, לְחֵשֶׁב הָאֵפֹד.
 

39:21
They laced the breastplate by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a twist of sky-blue wool, so that the breastplate would remain above the ephod’s belt. The breastplate would thus not be displaced from the ephod. [All this was done] as God had commanded Moses.
Vayirkesu et-hachoshen mitabe’otav el-tabe’ot ha’efod biftil techelet lihyot al-cheshev ha’efod velo-yizach hachoshen me’al ha’efod ka’asher tsivah Adonay et-Moshe.
וַיִּרְכְּסוּ אֶת-הַחֹשֶׁן מִטַּבְּעֹתָיו אֶל-טַבְּעֹת הָאֵפֹד בִּפְתִיל תְּכֵלֶת, לִהְיֹת עַל-חֵשֶׁב הָאֵפֹד, וְלֹא-יִזַּח הַחֹשֶׁן, מֵעַל הָאֵפֹד–כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה, אֶת-מֹשֶׁה.
