Exodus 35:1 – 38:20

First Aliyah

35:1
Moses assembled the entire Israelite community and said to them, ‘These are the words that God has commanded for [you] to do:

Vayakhel Moshe et-kol-adat beney-Yisra’el vayomer alehem eleh hadevarim asher-tsivah Adonay la’asot otam.

וַיַּקְהֵל מֹשֶׁה, אֶת-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל–וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם: אֵלֶּה, הַדְּבָרִים, אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה, לַעֲשֹׂת אֹתָם.

35:2
‘You may do work during the six weekdays, but Saturday must be kept holy as a Sabbath of Sabbaths to God. Whoever does any work on [that day] shall be put to death.

Sheshet yamim te’aseh melachah uvayom hashvi’i yihyeh lachem kodesh Shabat Shabaton l’Adonay kol-ha’oseh vo melachah yumat.

שֵׁשֶׁת יָמִים, תֵּעָשֶׂה מְלָאכָה, וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי יִהְיֶה לָכֶם קֹדֶשׁ שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתוֹן, לַיהוָה; כָּל-הָעֹשֶׂה בוֹ מְלָאכָה, יוּמָת.

35:3
Do not ignite any fire on the Sabbath, no matter where you may live.’

Lo-teva’aru esh bechol moshvoteychem beyom haShabat.

לֹא-תְבַעֲרוּ אֵשׁ, בְּכֹל מֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶם, בְּיוֹם, הַשַּׁבָּת.

35:4
Moses said to the entire Israelite community, ‘This is the word that God has commanded:

Vayomer Moshe el-kol-adat beney-Yisra’el lemor zeh hadavar asher tsivah Adonay lemor.

וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה, אֶל-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר: זֶה הַדָּבָר, אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה לֵאמֹר.

35:5
‘Collect among yourselves an elevated offering to God. If a person feels like giving an offering to God, he can bring any of the following: gold, silver, copper,

Kechu me’itchem trumah l’Adonay kol nediv libo yevi’eha et trumat Adonay zahav vachesef unchoshet.

קְחוּ מֵאִתְּכֶם תְּרוּמָה, לַיהוָה, כֹּל נְדִיב לִבּוֹ, יְבִיאֶהָ אֵת תְּרוּמַת יְהוָה: זָהָב וָכֶסֶף, וּנְחֹשֶׁת.

35:6
sky-blue [wool], dark red [wool], [wool died with] the crimson worm, fine linen, goats’ wool,

Utechelet ve’argaman vetola’at shani veshesh ve’izim.

וּתְכֵלֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן וְתוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי, וְשֵׁשׁ וְעִזִּים.

35:7
reddened ram’s skins, blue processed hides, acacia wood,

Ve’orot eylim me’odamim ve’orot techashim va’atsey shitim.

וְעֹרֹת אֵילִם מְאָדָּמִים וְעֹרֹת תְּחָשִׁים, וַעֲצֵי שִׁטִּים.

35:8
oil for the lamp, fragrances for the anointing oil and perfume incense,

Veshemen lama’or uvesamim leshemen hamishchah veliktoret hasamim.

וְשֶׁמֶן, לַמָּאוֹר; וּבְשָׂמִים לְשֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה, וְלִקְטֹרֶת הַסַּמִּים.

35:9
as well as sardonyxes and other precious stones for the ephod and the breastplate.

Ve’aveney-shoham ve’avney milu’im la’efod velachoshen.

וְאַבְנֵי-שֹׁהַם–וְאַבְנֵי, מִלֻּאִים: לָאֵפוֹד, וְלַחֹשֶׁן.

35:10
‘Every naturally talented individual among you shall come forth and make all that God has ordered:

Vechol-chacham-lev bachem yavo’u veya’asu et kol-asher tsivah Adonay.

וְכָל-חֲכַם-לֵב, בָּכֶם, יָבֹאוּ וְיַעֲשׂוּ, אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה.

35:11
The tabernacle along with its over-tent, roof, fasteners, beams, crossbars and pillars;

Et-haMishkan et-aholo ve’et-michsehu et-krasav ve’et-krashav et-berichav et-amudav ve’et-adanav.

אֶת-הַמִּשְׁכָּן–אֶת-אָהֳלוֹ, וְאֶת-מִכְסֵהוּ; אֶת-קְרָסָיו, וְאֶת-קְרָשָׁיו, אֶת-בְּרִיחָו, אֶת-עַמֻּדָיו וְאֶת-אֲדָנָיו.

35:12
the ark and its carrying poles, the ark cover, the cloth partition;

Et-ha’aron ve’et-badav et-hakaporet ve’et parochet hamasach.

אֶת-הָאָרֹן וְאֶת-בַּדָּיו, אֶת-הַכַּפֹּרֶת; וְאֵת, פָּרֹכֶת הַמָּסָךְ.

35:13
the table along with its carrying poles, all its utensils and the showbread;

Et-hashulchan ve’et-badav ve’et-kol-kelav ve’et lechem hapanim.

אֶת-הַשֻּׁלְחָן וְאֶת-בַּדָּיו, וְאֶת-כָּל-כֵּלָיו; וְאֵת, לֶחֶם הַפָּנִים.

35:14
the menorah lamp along with its utensils, lights and illuminating oil;

Ve’et-menorat hama’or ve’et-keleyha ve’et-neroteyha ve’et shemen hama’or.

וְאֶת-מְנֹרַת הַמָּאוֹר וְאֶת-כֵּלֶיהָ, וְאֶת-נֵרֹתֶיהָ; וְאֵת, שֶׁמֶן הַמָּאוֹר.

35:15
the incense altar and its carrying poles; the anointing oil, the perfumed incense, the drape for the tabernacle’s entrance;

Ve’et-mizbach haktoret ve’et-badav ve’et shemen hamishchah ve’et ketoret hasamim ve’et-masach hapetach lefetach haMishkan.

וְאֶת-מִזְבַּח הַקְּטֹרֶת, וְאֶת-בַּדָּיו, וְאֵת שֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה, וְאֵת קְטֹרֶת הַסַּמִּים; וְאֶת-מָסַךְ הַפֶּתַח, לְפֶתַח הַמִּשְׁכָּן.

35:16
the sacrificial altar along with its carrying poles and all its utensils; the washstand and its base;

Et mizbach ha’olah ve’et-michbar hanchoshet asher-lo et-badav ve’et-kol-kelav et-hakiyor ve’et-kano.

אֵת מִזְבַּח הָעֹלָה, וְאֶת-מִכְבַּר הַנְּחֹשֶׁת אֲשֶׁר-לוֹ, אֶת-בַּדָּיו, וְאֶת-כָּל-כֵּלָיו; אֶת-הַכִּיֹּר, וְאֶת-כַּנּוֹ.

35:17
the hangings for the enclosure, its pillars and bases, the drape for the enclosure’s entrance;

Et kal’ey hechatser et-amudav ve’et-adaneyha ve’et masach sha’ar hechatser.

אֵת קַלְעֵי הֶחָצֵר, אֶת-עַמֻּדָיו וְאֶת-אֲדָנֶיהָ; וְאֵת, מָסַךְ שַׁעַר הֶחָצֵר.

35:18
the stakes for the tent, the stakes for the enclosure, the tying ropes;

Et-yitdot haMishkan ve’et-yitdot hechatser ve’et-meytreyhem.

אֶת-יִתְדֹת הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְאֶת-יִתְדֹת הֶחָצֵר, וְאֶת-מֵיתְרֵיהֶם.

35:19
the packing cloths for sacred use, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, and the vestments that his sons will wear to serve.’

Et-bigdey hasrad lesharet bakodesh et-bigdey hakodesh le-Aharon hakohen ve’et-bigdey vanav lechahen.

אֶת-בִּגְדֵי הַשְּׂרָד, לְשָׁרֵת בַּקֹּדֶשׁ: אֶת-בִּגְדֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ לְאַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן, וְאֶת-בִּגְדֵי בָנָיו לְכַהֵן.

35:20
The entire Israelite community left Moses’ presence.

Vayets’u kol-adat beney-Yisra’el milifney Moshe.

וַיֵּצְאוּ כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל, מִלִּפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה.
