Fourth Aliyah



8:1
God spoke to Moses, saying:
Vayedaber Adonay el-Moshe lemor.
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר.

8:2
‘Take Aaron along with his sons, the vestments, the anointing oil, the sin offering bull, the two rams, and the basket of unleavened bread.
Kach et-Aharon ve’et-banav ito ve’et habegadim ve’et shemen hamishchah ve’et par hachatat ve’et shney ha’eylim ve’et sal hamatsot.
קַח אֶת-אַהֲרֹן, וְאֶת-בָּנָיו אִתּוֹ, וְאֵת הַבְּגָדִים, וְאֵת שֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה; וְאֵת פַּר הַחַטָּאת, וְאֵת שְׁנֵי הָאֵילִים, וְאֵת, סַל הַמַּצּוֹת.

8:3
Gather the entire community at the entrance of the Communion Tent.’
Ve’et kol-ha’edah hakhel et-petach Ohel Mo’ed.
וְאֵת כָּל-הָעֵדָה, הַקְהֵל, אֶל-פֶּתַח, אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

8:4
Moses did as God commanded and the community was assembled at the Communion Tent’s entrance.
Vaya’as Moshe ka’asher tsivah Adonay oto vatikahel ha’edah el-petach Ohel Mo’ed.
וַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה, כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֹתוֹ; וַתִּקָּהֵל, הָעֵדָה, אֶל-פֶּתַח, אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד.

8:5
Moses said to the community, ‘This is what God has commanded to be done.’
Vayomer Moshe el-ha’edah zeh hadavar asher-tsivah Adonay la’asot.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה, אֶל-הָעֵדָה: זֶה הַדָּבָר, אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה לַעֲשׂוֹת.

8:6
Moses brought forth Aaron and his sons, and immersed them in a mikvah.
Vayakrev Moshe et-Aharon ve’et-banav vayirchats otam bamayim.
וַיַּקְרֵב מֹשֶׁה, אֶת-אַהֲרֹן וְאֶת-בָּנָיו; וַיִּרְחַץ אֹתָם, בַּמָּיִם.

8:7
He then dressed [Aaron] with the tunic, belted him with the sash, put the robe on him, and placed the ephod over it. He girded him with the ephod’s belt, and tightened it on him.
Vayiten alav et-hakutonet vayachgor oto ba’avnet vayalbesh oto et-hame’il vayiten alav et-ha’efod vayachgor oto becheshev ha’efod vayepod lo bo.
וַיִּתֵּן עָלָיו אֶת-הַכֻּתֹּנֶת, וַיַּחְגֹּר אֹתוֹ בָּאַבְנֵט, וַיַּלְבֵּשׁ אֹתוֹ אֶת-הַמְּעִיל, וַיִּתֵּן עָלָיו אֶת-הָאֵפֹד; וַיַּחְגֹּר אֹתוֹ, בְּחֵשֶׁב הָאֵפֹד, וַיֶּאְפֹּד לוֹ, בּוֹ.

8:8
He then placed the breastplate on [the ephod], and placed the Urim and Thumim in the breastplate.
Vayasem alav et-hachoshen vayiten el-hachoshen et-ha’urim ve’et-hatumim.
וַיָּשֶׂם עָלָיו, אֶת-הַחֹשֶׁן; וַיִּתֵּן, אֶל-הַחֹשֶׁן, אֶת-הָאוּרִים, וְאֶת-הַתֻּמִּים.

8:9
He placed the turban on [Aaron’s] head, and toward his face just below the turban, he placed the gold forehead plate as a sacred coronet. [It was all done] as God commanded Moses.
Vayasem et-hamitsnefet al-rosho vayasem al-hamitsnefet el-mul panav et tsits hazahav nezer hakodesh ka’asher tsivah Adonay et-Moshe.
וַיָּשֶׂם אֶת-הַמִּצְנֶפֶת, עַל-רֹאשׁוֹ; וַיָּשֶׂם עַל-הַמִּצְנֶפֶת אֶל-מוּל פָּנָיו, אֵת צִיץ הַזָּהָב נֵזֶר הַקֹּדֶשׁ, כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה, אֶת-מֹשֶׁה.

8:10
Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, thus sanctifying them.
Vayikach Moshe et-shemen hamishchah vayimshach et-haMishkan ve’et-kol-asher-bo vayekadesh otam.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-שֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה, וַיִּמְשַׁח אֶת-הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְאֶת-כָּל-אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ; וַיְקַדֵּשׁ, אֹתָם.

8:11
He sprinkled some of [the oil] on the altar seven times. He then anointed the altar and all its utensils, as well as the washstand and its base, thus sanctifying them.
Vayaz mimenu al-hamizbe’ach sheva pe’amim vayimshach et-hamizbe’ach ve’et-kol-kelav ve’et-hakiyor ve’et-kano lekadsham.
וַיַּז מִמֶּנּוּ עַל-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ, שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים; וַיִּמְשַׁח אֶת-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְאֶת-כָּל-כֵּלָיו, וְאֶת-הַכִּיֹּר וְאֶת-כַּנּוֹ–לְקַדְּשָׁם.

8:12
He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head, and he anointed him to sanctify him.
Vayitsok mishemen hamishchah al rosh Aharon vayimshach oto lekadsho.
וַיִּצֹק מִשֶּׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה, עַל רֹאשׁ אַהֲרֹן; וַיִּמְשַׁח אֹתוֹ, לְקַדְּשׁוֹ.

8:13
Moses then brought forth Aaron’s sons, and he dressed them in tunics, girded them with sashes, and fitted them with hats. [It was all done] as God had commanded Moses.
Vayakrev Moshe et-beney Aharon vayalbishem kutanot vayachgor otam avnet vayachavosh lahem migba’ot ka’asher tsivah Adonay et-Moshe.
וַיַּקְרֵב מֹשֶׁה אֶת-בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן, וַיַּלְבִּשֵׁם כֻּתֳּנֹת וַיַּחְגֹּר אֹתָם אַבְנֵט, וַיַּחֲבֹשׁ לָהֶם, מִגְבָּעוֹת–כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה, אֶת-מֹשֶׁה.
