Third Aliyah



16:25
He shall [also] burn the choice parts of the sin offering on the altar.
Ve’et chelev hachatat yaktir hamizbechah.
וְאֵת חֵלֶב הַחַטָּאת, יַקְטִיר הַמִּזְבֵּחָה.

16:26
The one who sends the goat to Azazel shall immerse his clothing and body in a mikvah; only then can he enter the camp.
Vehameshale’ach et-hasa’ir la-Azazel yechabes begadav verachats et-besaro bamayim ve’acharey-chen yavo el-hamachaneh.
וְהַמְשַׁלֵּחַ אֶת-הַשָּׂעִיר, לַעֲזָאזֵל–יְכַבֵּס בְּגָדָיו, וְרָחַץ אֶת-בְּשָׂרוֹ בַּמָּיִם; וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן, יָבוֹא אֶל-הַמַּחֲנֶה.

16:27
The bull and goat presented as sin offerings, whose blood was brought into the [inner] sanctuary to make atonement, shall be brought outside the camp. There, their skin, flesh and entrails shall be burned in fire.
Ve’et par hachatat ve’et se’ir hachatat asher huva et-damam lechaper bakodesh yotsi el-michuts lamachaneh vesarfu va’esh et-orotam ve’et-besaram ve’et-pirsham.
וְאֵת פַּר הַחַטָּאת וְאֵת שְׂעִיר הַחַטָּאת, אֲשֶׁר הוּבָא אֶת-דָּמָם לְכַפֵּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ–יוֹצִיא, אֶל-מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה; וְשָׂרְפוּ בָאֵשׁ, אֶת-עֹרֹתָם וְאֶת-בְּשָׂרָם וְאֶת-פִּרְשָׁם.

16:28
The one who burns them shall immerse his clothing and body in a mikvah, and he may then come back into the camp.
Vehashoref otam yechabes begadav verachats et-besaro bamayim ve’acharey-chen yavo el-hamachaneh.
וְהַשֹּׂרֵף אֹתָם–יְכַבֵּס בְּגָדָיו, וְרָחַץ אֶת-בְּשָׂרוֹ בַּמָּיִם; וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן, יָבוֹא אֶל-הַמַּחֲנֶה.

16:29
[All] this shall be an eternal law for you. [Each year] on the 10th day of the 7th month you must fast and not do any work. This is true of both the native born and the proselyte who joins you.
Vehayetah lachem lechukat olam bachodesh hashvi’i be’asor lachodesh te’anu et-nafshoteychem vechol-melachah lo ta’asu ha’ezrach vehager hagar betochechem.
וְהָיְתָה לָכֶם, לְחֻקַּת עוֹלָם: בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי בֶּעָשׂוֹר לַחֹדֶשׁ תְּעַנּוּ אֶת-נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם, וְכָל-מְלָאכָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ–הָאֶזְרָח, וְהַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכְכֶם.

16:30
This is because on this day you shall have all your sins atoned, so that you will be cleansed. Before God you will be cleansed of all your sins.
Ki-vayom hazeh yechaper aleychem letaher etchem mikol chatoteychem lifney Adonay titharu.
כִּי-בַיּוֹם הַזֶּה יְכַפֵּר עֲלֵיכֶם, לְטַהֵר אֶתְכֶם: מִכֹּל, חַטֹּאתֵיכֶם, לִפְנֵי יְהוָה, תִּטְהָרוּ.

16:31
It is a Sabbath of Sabbaths to you, and [a day upon which] you must fast. This is a law for all time.
Shabat Shabaton hi lachem ve’initem et-nafshoteychem chukat olam.
שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתוֹן הִיא לָכֶם, וְעִנִּיתֶם אֶת-נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם–חֻקַּת, עוֹלָם.

16:32
The priest who is anointed and installed to be [High] Priest in his ancestor’s place shall make [this] atonement, wearing the sacred vestments of white linen.
Vechiper hakohen asher-yimshach oto va’asher yemale et-yado lechahen tachat aviv velavash et-bigdey habad bigdey hakodesh.
וְכִפֶּר הַכֹּהֵן אֲשֶׁר-יִמְשַׁח אֹתוֹ, וַאֲשֶׁר יְמַלֵּא אֶת-יָדוֹ, לְכַהֵן, תַּחַת אָבִיו; וְלָבַשׁ אֶת-בִּגְדֵי הַבָּד, בִּגְדֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ.

16:33
He shall be the one to make atonement in the holy [inner] sanctuary, in the Communion Tent, and on the altar. The atonement that he makes shall be for the priests and for the people of the community.
Vechiper et-mikdash hakodesh ve’et-Ohel Mo’ed ve’et-hamizbe’ach yechaper ve’al hakohanim ve’al-kol-am hakahal yechaper.
וְכִפֶּר אֶת-מִקְדַּשׁ הַקֹּדֶשׁ, וְאֶת-אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְאֶת-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ יְכַפֵּר; וְעַל הַכֹּהֲנִים וְעַל-כָּל-עַם הַקָּהָל, יְכַפֵּר.

16:34
[All this] shall be for you as a law for all time, so that the Israelites [will be able to] gain atonement for their sins once each year. [Aaron later] did exactly as God had commanded Moses.
Vehayetah-zot lachem lechukat olam lechaper al-beney Yisra’el mikol-chatotam achat bashanah vaya’as ka’asher tsivah Adonay et-Moshe.
וְהָיְתָה-זֹּאת לָכֶם לְחֻקַּת עוֹלָם, לְכַפֵּר עַל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכָּל-חַטֹּאתָם–אַחַת, בַּשָּׁנָה; וַיַּעַשׂ, כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה.
