Acharey Moth Hebrew Parsha – 4th Aliyah

Acharey Moth (אַחֲרֵי מוֹת)

Leviticus 16:1 – 18:30

Fourth Aliyah

17:1
God spoke to Moses, telling him to
Vayedaber Adonay el-Moshe lemor

17:2
speak to Aaron, his sons, and the [other] Israelites, telling them that the following is literally what God commanded:
Daber el-Aharon ve’el-banav ve’el kol-beney Yisra’el ve’amarta alehem zeh hadavar asher-tsivah Adonay lemor.

17:3
If any member of the family of Israel sacrifices an ox, sheep or goat, whether in the camp or outside the camp,
Ish ish mibeyt Yisra’el asher yishchat shor o-chesev o-ez bamachaneh o asher yishchat michuts lamachaneh.

17:4
and does not bring it to the Communion Tent to be offered as a sacrifice to God before His sanctuary, that person is considered a murderer. That person has committed an act of murder, and he shall be cut off [spiritually] from among his people.

17:5
The Israelites shall thus take the sacrifices that they are offering in the fields, and bring them to God, to the Communion Tent entrance, [where they are given] to the priest. They can then be offered as peace offerings to God.
Lema’an asher yavi’u beney Yisra’el et-zivcheyhem asher hem zovechim al-peney hasadeh vehevi’um l’Adonay el-petach Ohel Mo’ed el-hakohen vezavechu zivchey shlamim l’Adonay otam.

17:6
The priest will then dash the blood on God’s altar at the Communion Tent’s entrance, and burn the choice parts as an appeasing fragrance to God.
Vezarak hakohen et-hadam al-mizbach Adonay petach Ohel Mo’ed vehiktir hachelev lere’ach nichoach l’Adonay.

17:7
The Israelites will then stop sacrificing to the demons who [continue to] tempt them. This shall be an eternal law for them for all generations.
Velo-yizbechu od et-zivcheyhem lase’irim asher hem zonim achareyhem chukat olam tihyeh-zot lahem ledorotam.
